Wolfram Ruf, MD

Wolfram Ruf, M.D. studied Medicine in Giessen, Germany and continued his career at The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA as a faculty member for the last 25 years and received a Humboldt Professorship in 2013 to establish a new laboratory at the University Medical Center in Mainz, Germany. He is Professor of Immunology and Microbiology at Scripps and Scientific Director of the interdisciplinary, translational Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis (CTH) in Mainz since 2014.
Interested in tissue factor, coagulation protease biochemistry and signaling, his work is focused focusing on cellular and receptor-mediated events of the coagulation pathway in thrombosis, hemostasis and thrombo-inflammatory processes. His current interests include the interplay of the coagulation pathways with the immune system and the role of these interactions in obesity, metabolic syndrome, stem cell biology and cancer progression.
