James (Jim) Roberts joined MERU VasImmune in 2016 from The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA, where he worked in lab management for 42 years. Jim’s initial research efforts focused on von Willebrand Factor (vWF) and Factor VIII. He then established and directed a hybridoma laboratory where these monoclonal antibodies were tools for further studies as well as the production of platelet surface glycoproteins and other clotting factors and plasma proteins. In addition to directing and supervising the lab, Jim conducted molecular biological and cell culture work, and consequently, many of these proteins were cloned and produced in Drosophila expression systems. Born, raised, and educated in San Diego (University of California, San Diego and San Diego State University), Jim brings technical expertise and laboratory management skills to MERU VasImmune and is currently overseeing the initial stages of establishing this new company’s research facilities.
