Alessandro Zarpellon, PhD

R&D Program Leader
Dr. Alessandro Zarpellon received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Padova, Italy. He brings more than 10 years of experience in the biology and biochemistry of platelets, including extensive knowledge of protein modification and purification. His work at The Scripps Research Institute (La Jolla, CA) has helped unravel the mechanistic details of complex multi-protein interactions that modulate platelet activation by FIIa (thrombin) and other agonists. Dr. Zarpellon joined MERU VasImmune in 2017 as Novel Platelet Program Leader and in 2018 was promoted to R&D Program Leader, providing overall direction for all activities related to IVD development program, CRO service activities/contracts, and antibody production.
